Stingray

The Stingray is Cal Surf’s modern hip forward high performance egg shape. This board gets the speed you need to do the power moves you want to do! The “Stingray” model is Cal Surfs answer for any experienced surfers that love to go fast in slower-breaking waves due to the volume and flatter rocker. The wider surface area of this board makes it easier to paddle and catch waves so you won’t be groveling to catch your share of waves.

OUTLINE: The generous outline provides a stable board to work from. The extra width in the back half of this model allows the surfer to stay positioned over the fins for better performance. The (recommended) round tail or squash tail for this model create two distinctive turning points to turn off, and the very refined, but subtle hip creates a release point for tighter arcs to make up for this boards more drawn out style of surfing.

BOTTOM: Multiple bottom contours diverge the smooth, flowing ride that the Stingray offers. Quick acceleration is what you will get from the soft rail concave's in the nose that lead into a subtle single concave extending towards the center of the board. The mild double concave transitions into vee through the back, creating a very powerful flow of water off the tail providing lift while also enhancing responsiveness at the high speeds this board will create.

ROCKER: Composed, very smooth with emphasis on the flip in the nose, which is needed for taking off on steep drops. Through the center it is relatively flat, this is ideal for holding speed down the line. The tail rocker is raised very slightly, which helps with sensitivity off the bottom and helps the board to optimally accelerate through turns.

FOIL: The foil on the Stingray has plenty of volume around the chest and center area of the board, yet it refines out to a thinner, more pinched rail to keep the board connected to the wave. The concave runs from a rolled vee in the entry, to a slight single transitioning into a vee double out the tail, which gives the board great speed and control from rail to rail.

FINS: Futures Tri-Quad or FCS Tri-Quad.
